Oklahoma State earns 36-31 victory in Big 12 opener; Kyle Field not sellout for A&M tickets

The Oklahoma State Cowboys and those holding Texas A&M tickets learned on Saturday that there is life without All-American receiver Dez Bryant. Even without Bryant, who was ruled ineligible by the school this week for lying to the NCAA about contact he made with a former NFL player, the Cowboys earned a 36-31 victory and won for the only the second time at Kyle Field since 1983.

After a battle of field position ensued on the first four possessions for both teams , Oklahoma State, whose only loss came in week 2 against Houston, set up with the ball on the Texas A&M 49-yard line. Four plays later quarterback Zac Robinson scrambled four yards into the end zone to put the Cowboys up 7-0.

UT fans holding OU tickets get scare as Longhorns earn ugly 38-14 victory over Colorado

Looking ahead. That’s what fans always do. OU tickets and the Red River Rivalry were on the minds of Texas fans. It appeared the same was true for the Longhorn offense against a Colorado Buffaloes squad that has struggled losing three out of its first four games. Despite the most lackluster offense performance of the season, the No. 2-ranked Texas Longhorns eventually came away with a 38-14 victory in front of a crowd of 101,152.

It started quite ominously for the Longhorn faithful holding Texas tickets.

Holders of Texas A&M tickets get dose of reality in 47-19 loss to Arkansas

In a battle of former Southwest Conference rivals, Texas A&M jumped out to the early 10-0 lead but it didn’t last long as the Arkansas Razorbacks then scored five consecutive times including four touchdowns en route to a 30-10 halftime lead and eventually a dominating 47-19 victory in front of 71,872 fans at Dallas Cowboys Stadium.

Fans holding Texas A&M tickets were ecstatic with just six minutes remaining in the first quarter as the Aggies defense had shut down the quick-strike Arkansas offense and quarterback Ryan Mallett while the Aggie offense and quarterback Jerrod Johnson scored twice, the second coming on a 60-yard bomb from Johnson to Brandal Jackson who had gotten behind the Arkansas defense.

Tre Newton comes out of father’s giant shadow

Nate Newton. For Dallas Cowboys fans, the name evokes memories of the mammoth offensive lineman who was a six-time Pro Bowler that played for Dallas during the glorious 1990s. When he wasn’t mauling his opposing defensive lineman, he was smiling and providing comic relief for the cameras. Fast forward to 2009. There’s a new Newton making headlines today and he reminds you nothing of his father.

Tre Newton is a redshirt freshman running back at the University of Texas. In Texas’ 34-24 victory over Texas Tech, it was Newton who had 20 carries for 88 yards and helped keep the high-powered Red Raider offense on the sideline.

Houston student tickets holders see 29-28 win over Texas Tech

It was a flashback to the 1980s and once the toughest Houston student ticket to find—Houston hosting Texas Tech. The old Southwest Conference days. This much-anticipated offensive display was everything it was cracked up to be as the Cougars scored with less than a minute to play to defeat the Red Raiders 29-28 in front of the largest crowd ever—32,114—at Robertson Stadium.

The 17th-ranked Cougars, ranked for the first time in 18 years, got on the board first when quarterback Case Keenum connected with James Cleveland for a six-yard touchdown to finish off an eight-play, 34-yard drive.
